Terms of Service

These Terms are an agreement between you and Byland Industries LLC ("we", "us"). By installing or using the AutoEdge Android app, the AutoEdge desktop app for Windows, or the account pages on appautoedge.com (together, the "Service") you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

01The service

AutoEdge helps you evaluate used vehicles, look up market comps and valuations, track inventory, repair orders, quotes, and customers, and generate business paperwork. Valuations — including retail comps, recommended bids, and the AER (Auto Edge Retail) wholesale value — are computed from public and licensed data sources, historical sale data, and the evaluation inputs you provide. All figures are estimates, provided "as is" with no warranty of accuracy, and should not be relied on as the sole basis for a purchase, sale, or bidding decision.

Generated paperwork (repair orders, quotes, bills of sale, settlement sheets, disclosures) is provided as a convenience and is currently built around Minnesota requirements. It is not legal advice; you are responsible for confirming that any document meets the requirements of your jurisdiction before using it.

02Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your country of residence.

03Account

You sign in with a Google account or with an email address and password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably suspect abuse, fraud, or illegal activity.

04Subscriptions, free trials, and payments

Android app (Google Play)

• New users start on the free tier. A 14-day free trial of AutoEdge Pro is available through Google Play and requires a payment method on file; you will not be charged until the trial ends unless you cancel first. After a trial or paid period ends, the app returns to the free tier unless you keep an active subscription.
• Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Google Play. Current pricing is shown in-app at the time of purchase.
• Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled in your Google Play account.
• Refund requests are handled by Google Play under its refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.
• Free-tier users may evaluate up to 2 vehicles per calendar month. Additional evaluations require a Pro subscription.
• Promo codes, when redeemed, grant a "lifetime" Pro entitlement tied to your account. Promo codes are single-use and non-transferable.

Desktop app (Windows)

• The desktop app is licensed separately from the Android app on a monthly subscription (currently $50/month) with a 7-day free trial. Current pricing is shown in the app at the time of purchase.
• Desktop billing is processed by Stripe. Your payment-card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers.
• Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can update your card, view invoices, or cancel at any time from Manage billing in the app's settings.
• If a renewal payment fails, we retry it; access may be suspended until payment succeeds. Cancelling stops future charges but does not delete your data.

Business accounts

• A business account ties multiple user seats to one shared shop. Billing for a business is one subscription with a seat per member, managed by the business owner.
• Business accounts are currently set up by us — contact james@bylandindustries.com.

05Business accounts and shared data

• Members of a business account share one set of vehicles, customers, work orders, quotes, files, and related records. Every member of your business can see records any member creates.
• Records show which member added them. Only the business owner can delete shared records; other members can view and edit.
• The business owner controls membership. If you are removed from a business, you lose access to its shared records.
• You are responsible for making sure the people you add to your business are authorized to see its data.

06Your content and customer data

• You retain ownership of the content you put into the Service — vehicle records, customer records, work orders, quotes, notes, photos, and files. You grant us the license needed to store, process, sync, and display that content to you and your business members, which is how the Service works.
• Customer records you create (including details read from a driver's license you scan) are personal data about your customers. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect and store that information and for honoring your customers' requests about it.
• We may use evaluation inputs and outcomes (for example, the condition, mileage, and prices involved in an evaluation) to improve our valuation models. This use does not include your customers' identities.

07Quotes and shared links

When you text or share a quote, the Service creates a public link on appautoedge.com that displays that quote — vehicle, line items, totals, and your shop's name — to anyone who has the link. Only share quote links with people you intend to see them. Deleting the underlying work order disables the link.

08Third-party services

• QuickBooks Online: if you connect QuickBooks, we send the invoices, estimates, sales receipts, and customer records you choose to push. Your use of QuickBooks is governed by Intuit's own terms. Disconnecting stops further syncing.
• Google Play and Stripe process payments under their own terms.
• Vehicle data returned from third-party sources (including NHTSA vPIC and licensed vehicle-listing and marketplace data providers) remains governed by their respective licences. You may not scrape, bulk-export, or resell data obtained through the Service.
• Ask AI responses are generated by a third-party AI model and may be inaccurate. Daily question limits apply. Do not rely on AI answers as professional advice.

09Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer the Service or its backend.
• Attempt to bypass free-tier limits, trial periods, or usage caps, or generate fraudulent purchase tokens.
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export valuation or listing data.
• Use the Service in a way that interferes with another user's use.
• Resell access to your account, or share seats outside your business.
• Use the Service to store or process data you have no right to hold.

10Intellectual property

The Service, its apps, UI, brand marks, valuation models, and underlying code are owned by Byland Industries LLC. You receive a personal (or, for business accounts, internal-business), non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose.

11Disclaimer

THE SERVICE AND ALL ESTIMATES, VALUATIONS (INCLUDING AER VALUES), MARKET COMPS, REPAIR-COST FIGURES, AI RESPONSES, AND GENERATED DOCUMENTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ACCURACY.

12Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BYLAND INDUSTRIES LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DECISIONS MADE IN RELIANCE ON ITS ESTIMATES OR DOCUMENTS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS.

13Changes to the service or terms

We may update the Service and these Terms over time. Material changes will be surfaced inside the apps or on this site. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

14Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, except where the consumer-protection laws of your place of residence require otherwise. Where consumer protection laws require a specific forum, that forum controls.
